Jiake Xu

Dr Jiake Xu is currently Winthrop Professor, Head of Molecular Laboratory, and Head of the Division of Regenerative Medicine, School of Biomedical Science, at the University of Western Australia (UWA). He is also a founding Fellow, Faculty of Science, the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia, and has served the President of the Australian and New Zealand Orthopaedic Research Society (ANZORS, 2012-2015). After completing his PhD studies at UWA in 1994, he carried out his postdoctoral research at Stanford University from 1994 to 1998. He returned to UWA in 1998, and has since undertaken research and teaching in the School of Biomedical Sciences, UWA His current research interests are in osteoclast biology, molecular cross talks of osteoclast and osteoblast, as well as angiogenic and angiocrine dysregulation in bone microenvironment, which have significant implication in skeletal disorders. He has published 214 SCI papers, including Nat. Med. Endocr Rev. PNAS, Ann Rheum Dis. JBMR, MCB and JBC.
