Matthew Balcerek

Dr Matthew Balcerek is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing outpatient care at Queensland Physician Care and inpatient care at the Wesley Hospital. He also works as a Senior Medical Officer within the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Dr Balcerek graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2009 and Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from Griffith University in 2013. He completed his Endocrinology training in Southeast Queensland and undertook a two-year Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital at the completion of his training. Dr Balcerek recently completed a Master of Medicine in Metabolic Health through the University of Sydney and is also a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland. Dr Balcerek welcomes referrals in all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology, with a special interest in diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, as well as gender-affirming healthcare. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP), a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, US Endocrine Society, Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society, as well as the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health.
